Newport Interchange to Birdhill
Site clearance in all areas is virtually complete.
Cut and fill earthworks are progressing well and are up to 90% complete. This area contains the Drominboy and Annaholty bogs where earth works are 93% complete.
Utility and service diversions are 62% complete.
There are ten new bridges in this section and work has commenced on all of them. Underbridge 83 which crosses under local road L6016 is 100% complete. Overbridge 33 which crosses local road LS5004 is 100% complete. Four other bridges are 100% complete.
Touknockane quarry is also in this section and to date has produced over 1,500,000 tons of aggregates. Increased dust suppressing systems have been introduced in the quarry.
